Location

The Dongwe Club is located directly by the sea, on the eastern coast of Zanzibar, where the climate is drier and more pleasant, approximately 6 km from the village of Michamvi and 65 km from the capital Stone Town.
Transfer from Zanzibar airport: approximately one hour and thirty minutes.

Standard

Two single beds or a four-poster double bed with mosquito net, equipped with telephone, mini bar, safe, hair dryer, air conditioning and veranda. Third bed available only in rooms with double beds.

Superior

Located in two two-storey buildings. With a four-poster double bed and mosquito net, telephone, mini bar, safe, hair dryer, air conditioning, balcony or veranda. Third bed available in all rooms. Interconnecting rooms, “family rooms”, located on the ground floor available.

De Luxe

Two single beds or a four-poster double bed with mosquito net, equipped with telephone, mini bar, safe, hair dryer, air conditioning and a veranda. All rooms are sea facing and have a spectacular view. Third bed available only in rooms with double beds.

Suite

There are four suites, each consisting of a bedroom with a double bed and separate living room (with a Zanzibar-style bed for children). Equipped with whirlpool bath, direct dial telephone, satellite TV, mini bar, safe, hair dryer, air conditioning, veranda.

Restaurant

Dongwe Club restaurant offers international and Italian cuisine. Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner either buffet or served at the table, including mineral water and American coffee.

A long white sandy beach with sun loungers and beach towels.

The Dongwe Club collaborates with the neighbouring Rising Sun Dive Center, which has been operating on the island since 1997. It is the only “PADI 4 stars Gold Palm and National Geographic Dive Centre” diving centre in Zanzibar. Qualified and expert instructors will accompany you in the discovery of the underwater world. Modern equipment is available at the centre, which offers a full range of PADI courses: from the Bubble Maker Course for children to Discover Scuba Diving for beginners, from the Advanced Open Water to the Dive Master.
The east coast reef is still intact with a great variety of marine life and beautiful diving spots at different depths and for different experience levels.

Excursions

KIZIMKAZI

Half day
Kizimkazi is a small fishing village located in the southern part of the island , starting point of motor boats. An excursion for snorkelers who will experience the wonders of the Indian Ocean and spotting the ni. On the return visit of the Zala Park, a small reptile zoo housing some specimens living on the island.

JOZANI FOREST

Half day
Jozani Forest is the only virgin forest island wide over 2,400 hectares where, in an unspoilt vegetation of plane trees, mahogany trees, ferns and many other species, still home to many herds of red colobus, monkey endemic to Zanzibar, and the Blue Monkey diadem. At the end, walk through a mangrove lagoon.

STONE TOWN

Half day
The ancient Stone Town, Zanzibar Stone town and capital, is one of the most charming places on the west coast: a maze of winding streets lined with whitewashed coral houses lime and majestic palaces rich in history and culture. Chance to go shopping in the narrow streets of the “stone citadel”.

PRISON ISLAND

All day
From the port of Stone Town, aboard a “dhow”, the typical boat at the local sailing, you reach Prison Island populated by giant turtles for over 150 years. After visiting the old prisons, you reach a sandbar where you are immersed in the crystal clear waters of fish and corals. Lunch of typical dishes served in the shade of a colorful “canga”.

SAFARI BLU

All day
Aboard a “dhow”, the typical boat at the local sailing, we set sail for the beautiful Bay of Manai, a place of passage for many of the ni. After a tasty barbecue on the beach, possibility to try to sail with a “ngalawa”, the typical local trimaran.

ISLAND TOUR

Half day or All day
Accompanied by an experienced guide you will reach Nungwi where we visit a factory of “dhows”, the typical boat at the local sailing still built with primitive techniques. The morning continues in the Greek sun on pristine beaches. After lunch they will visit the inland villages and a spice plantation.

DEEP SEA FISHING

Option to rent a boat equipped for deep sea fishing, accompanied by experienced local sailors. A unique and unrepeatable.

TANZANIA SAFARI

Upon request, the Club organizes beautiful photographic safaris of two or three days in the most beautiful parks in Tanzania.
